Scent with care: pregnancy, children and pets
A home can be shared by people and animals with different needs. Choosing to leave a space unscented can be part of caring for that home.
ESOCA oils are for home fragrance only. Do not swallow, apply to skin, add to food or drink, or use them on an animal. This guide sits alongside the warnings on each product; it does not replace them.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Do not assume that a natural oil or a familiar ingredient is suitable during pregnancy. Discuss the specific oil and proposed use with your maternity clinician before using it. If suitability has not been established, choose an unscented routine. We do not label any ESOCA oil as pregnancy-safe.

Children.
Keep concentrated oils locked away, out of sight and reach. Do not let children handle the bottles or diffuser liquid. These are not children’s treatment products. Children can be more vulnerable to adverse effects; do not assume an adult routine is appropriate for a child. Avoid diffusing around babies or young children until their clinician has advised on the proposed use.

Pets.
Never put concentrated oils on an animal or allow licking, drinking or contact with spills. Keep oils and equipment inaccessible. Avoid essential-oil diffusers in homes with birds. Pets with respiratory conditions may need an entirely unscented environment. If a diffuser is used, animals must be able to leave the area. Ask your veterinarian about your animal’s circumstances; no ESOCA oil is marketed as pet-safe.

Sensitivities and accidental exposure.
Stop use if you develop irritation or discomfort. Breathing difficulty is an emergency. If oil is swallowed, contact a poison centre promptly rather than waiting for symptoms. For suspected animal exposure, contact a veterinarian promptly and keep the product label available.
Before every use.
Check the bottle’s directions, warnings and storage instructions. Use compatible equipment, keep containers closed, and protect them from heat and ignition sources. Read Before your first drop for the everyday setup.
